Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or simply want to grow and understand yourself better, therapy can be incredibly beneficial. I offer a free consultation to discuss your specific situation and whether my approach might be helpful for you.
What should I expect in our first session?
The first session is all about getting to know you. We'll discuss your current concerns, your history, and your goals for therapy. I'll explain my approach and answer any questions you have. This is also your opportunity to see if you feel comfortable working with me.
How often will we meet?
Most clients find weekly sessions most beneficial, especially when beginning therapy. As you progress, we might move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions. The frequency depends on your needs, goals, and preferences.
Do you accept insurance?
I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, I provide detailed superbills that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients find they get better coverage this way, and it allows for more privacy and flexibility in treatment.
Is everything we discuss confidential?
Yes, absolutely. Everything shared in therapy is strictly confidential, with only a few legal exceptions (imminent danger to self or others, child or elder abuse, or court order). I take your privacy very seriously and use secure, HIPAA-compliant systems for all communications.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens, and I understand that. I ask for 24-hour notice for cancellations when possible. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) or no-shows may be charged the full session fee, though I'm flexible in genuine emergencies.
How long does therapy typically take?
This varies greatly depending on your goals and circumstances. Some people find benefit in just a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term work. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust the frequency and focus of our work based on your needs and goals.
